Eco conference in Serres!

Hey dudes and dudettes!
Last weekend we helped organize a Conference for the environment in Serres University. 300 people were invited, politicians both national and international attended. The registration started at 16.00 and loads of people started to swarm inside the small hall of the university building that we were occupying for the weekend. As volunteers in this project we did everything we could to make this conference as good as possible. All the guests had to get the correct information about the speakers and everyone had to be registered before the first speaker started at 18.00. Both local and other countries gave important information about the situation in Greece and its environment and how we are able to make it better. I actually remember standing in the reception when this guy with an ecological café came up to me and started speaking about the pipelines in Greece and how they have to borrow other countries pipelines to get water, and how this raises issues and complications for the Greek people. It was very interesting and we will put up a link to their website as soon as I find his business card. At night the people who attended the conference were able to go to a very fancy dinner at a new hotel/Spa here in Serres. Saturday started at 09.00 and went along fine. Since the registration on Friday was the most hectic part of the conference, Saturday was a peace of cake. At 14.00 the participants had the opportunity to visit Lake Kerikini for lunch and a guided tour. The tour ended and people arrived back in the town of Serres around 20.00, which gave the participants 2 full hours to get ready for the next dinner in a local taverna. It was a very successful dinner! On Sunday the volunteers had very little to do. We mostly took down posters and flayers about the conference and cleaned up what was left. All the participants went home with a smile on their face. (well maybe not all, since I didnt see all the 300 faces). We think that the conference was a big success and that it was a very fun experience! At the moment we do not know if their are any links to the conference but if we find them we will post them! That is all for now!

Cheerio!
